Johnny Butler's music is constantly evolving. From his beginnings as lead guitarist and singer in local progressive rock act Antipathy, to his most recent band Cringer: the Battlecat, Johnny's playing style draws upon countless influences from various genres. It was after Antipathy fell apart that he began studying the music of solo acoustic guitarists Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Andy Mckee, and many others. Johnny's playing began to take a new direction, as he gained interest in playing instrumental acoustic music. He soon fell in love with the rich, organic sounds and harmonic possibilities of the acoustic guitar. During the winter of 2009, inspiration struck and he began writing new music. Over the next few months he spent many hours a day working hard on his composition and technique. In the summer of 2010 he began recording his compositions, with a humble living room studio setup. This collection of songs became his debut album titled "Where the Earth Meets the Sky".
